Profound: A Destiel Fanzine is a not-for-profit project. As such, the proceeds from zine sales go to a few different places in order to produce the zine and maintain the tools we use to produce it. After each issue is out in the world and all those costs are settled, the remaining funds are donated.
- Firstly, the majority of proceeds go towards production of the zine and bundles, such as zine printing and the manufacturing of included merch. This also covers the cost of the software used to assemble the zine, the ordering of proofs and samples, and the physical packing materials which are used to ship out the bundles to everyone.
- Secondly, some costs are allocated to the next issue, for the commissioning of promotional and cover art.
- Thirdly, a portion of the proceeds goes towards web/server hosting for ProfoundBond.net, including the costs of hosting the server bots. ProfoundBond.net hosts the shop where all sales are conducted and houses the tools the staff use for organization and collaboration. The primary tools we use are wordpress, airtable, and gsuite.
- Lastly, the remainder of the proceeds will be donated to The Organization for Transformative Works.
Exact numbers and ratios of the distribution of proceeds cannot be released until all the costs of manufacturing have been finalized. However, after the donation for each issue has been made to OTW, a full financial report of the zine’s proceeds and their allocations will be released.
