If you've ever done a Secret Santa, you'll understand how this fest works. The PB Exchange matches members of the server to create anonymous gifts for one another that meet the theme of the current fest.
Participants will be provided with a profile of their giftee so you will know who you're giving to, along with their favorite tropes. You will have some idea of what they might like, but they won't know who you are until posting! Everybody will get a nice surprise on posting day.
You'll have roughly one calendar month to complete your gift. This is a fun exchange designed to be low stress for both gifters and giftees! The exchange usually runs a couple times a year, so be on the lookout for when the next one opens up!
Creation Guidelines
- Creations must be Destiel or Gen.
- Creations must connect with the theme, but the connection can be as explicit or as loose as you'd like! The theme changes each round, so make sure you check the Current Exchange tab.
- Creations can be in the media of your choice (eg. fanfic, art, graphic, fanvid)
- Fic length: minimum of 500 words. There is no maximum, but most contributors benefit from picking a target word-count that you’re very confident you can complete in a relatively short period of time, and most stories do not exceed 12K. No one is expecting a novella for a month-long challenge, and short fics are just as lovely!
- You will be provided with a list of your recipient's favorite tropes, to give you an idea of what they would like. While it's not compulsory, we do recommend incorporating at least one! Some contributors also look at their giftee's social media accounts or posts to find other things that they like, but this is optional.
- You will also be provided with a list of your recipient's squicks. These are NOT to be included in any way, and if there are any questions about whether something in your creation counts as a squick, please contact a mod. Breaking this rule will result in a permanent ban from the PBExchange.
- Major archive warnings may not be specifically included in your giftee's squick list, but unless they are requested as favorite tropes, they are not appropriate for this exchange.
- This exchange is anonymous until open posting! You are welcome to discuss what you are creating, but please do not reveal who your recipient is prior to posting your creation.
- The check-in is mandatory. Failing to complete the check-in or respond to mod contact in a timely manner will result in a one-round ban, and your giftee will be allocated a pinch hitter. You will be able to sign up for future exchanges once your ban period has ended.
Posting Guidelines
- You may post at any time during the posting window.
- Gifts must be complete when posted, and should be posted all at once. Serial posting is not permitted.
- If you think you will be unable to post by the end of the posting window, or you need to drop out, please contact a mod immediately via Discord DM. It takes time to arrange a pinch hitter.
- Failure to post your gift in complete form by the end of the posting period (unless you have indicated in the check-in that you will need to drop) will result in a one round ban. You will be able to sign up for future exchanges once your ban period has ended.
- Failure to post in combination with lack of communication with any of the mods will result in a permanent ban.
- When you post your creation, please tag your participant. If you are unable to find them on your chosen platform, please contact a mod.
- When posting on tumblr, twitter, instagram, or pillowfort, please use the relevant exchange tag and profoundnet in the first five tags. You can find the tag for the current round in the Current Exchange section.
- When posting on AO3, please add your creation to the collection and crosspost to tumblr if possible, using the tags specified above. The collection is linked in the Current Exchange section.
- Extra art for gift fics may only be commissioned after the posting window is complete, and if not made by the original creator, should not be presented as an additional gift for your giftee.
